Maa Ambaji Temple is one of the richest and sacred temples in Gujarat. It attracts millions of pilgrims from Gujarat and neighbouring Rajasthan state every year. According to Hindu mythology, Maa Ambaji temple is one of the 51 "Shaktipeethas", where it is believed that the heart of Goddess Sati fell, and is considered to be the source of supreme power of cosmic energy of the Universe.
To facilitate the huge turnout of Pilgrimage in Ambaji, a Ropeway was commissioned at the top of Gabbar Hills by Udan Khatola in the year 1998. This has become a major attraction for people apart from having religious motives to visit the palce.
The travel length of the ropeway is 363 meters and covers a vertical rise of 138 meters. It is constantly encouraging more and more pilgrims to visit the Gabbar Hills especially the aged and infirmed, senior citizens and people from all corners of the world come to visit the temple through the ropeway and conveniently enjoy the beauty and holiness of the sacred Hill.
